Uyuni to Pisiga: via Salars de Uyuni y Coipasa

Anyone can see the beauty of a landscape and equally appreciate it, but to feel its beauty you must experience its harshness, its ability to send you spiraling from ecstatic awe to crushed soul, ready to surrender and quit. As far as you can see is white, indistinguishable land surrounded by the distant mountains of another country. The coarse salt sticks to everything it touches: chain, brakes, helmet, tyres, thermals, sock, gloves, all covered in white specks of salt. The sun reflects off the white surface and instead of reflecting back I prefer to dream of the future. Of catching my flight, sharing stories, sitting on a couch, setting up my new life and new home. It’s silent out here, occasionally broken by the gentle breeze and the scratching of my pencil. We’ve finally left the jeeps and buses behind.
